Prowling Lion Makes Trouble Again

Well, just in time to make trouble about the SSPX reunification, an SSPX school is in the news in a negative way. Of course. The devil really hates reconciliation.

Our Lady of Sorrows Academy has forfeited the championship baseball game in a small state baseball league.

Unfortunately, the news is spinning this as a “boycott” of the opposite team, from refusal to play a team with a girl on it. Now, it’s true this was their reason for not playing some football games in the past (though football’s a contact sport, and that’s reasonable).

But apparently, the would-be opposing team also didn’t field the girl player in games against them in the past (which is apparently supposed to be sportsmanly politeness, not submission, although apparently it’s not polite anymore in a championship game).

The other stupidity is that, of course, any team is allowed to forfeit for any reason, and that if they want to forfeit the championship that’s their business.  If you’re the opposing team and you thus win without a fight, you’re supposed to be pleased.

Apparently this girl and her family are more interested in bitching than winning.

Good Jewish teams don’t play or practice on the Sabbath, so they miss out on some opportunities. Good Catholic teams don’t play or practice on Sundays, so they miss out on some opportunities. If a team chooses to miss out on some opportunities by not playing boys’ teams against girls; or if a girl chooses not to support the other athletic girls at her school in her sport and runs off to a boys’ team, thus missing the opportunity for female comradeship — those are both choices they have a right to make.

  1. Just amazing how often “free to choose” means “free to do what I want you to, and nothing else, lest I call you names and whine.”
