“The Cat Who Walked By Himself”, Soviet Animation Version

You probably remember the prehistoric Kipling tale from the Just So Stories. Well, Russians love Kipling, and the Soviets okayed all kinds of stuff if it was “classic literature” or “for children.”

So this is sort of a prehistoric jazz Kipling. Looks beautiful, like somebody was trying to do Gauguin meets Tarzan. The narration seems pretty close to direct quotes from the book, which is public domain in the US. So the enterprising could probably put together subtitles.

Not work-safe, though, because the first half has the Woman half-naked. (Not really showing anything, mind you.) The second half, she’s wearing a halter top.

Here’s a stop-motion Russian version, which isn’t as pretty but is full-length.
