A nationally coordinated sales tax/use tax looms like an executioner.
Yeah, how dare people use small e-businesses to keep afloat in a bad economy? They’re supposed to give all their money toward keeping the governments afloat! And who wouldn’t want the federal government to get more involved in state and local taxes?
Obviously this won’t kill internet business. The advantages are so strong that large businesses will be okay. Small businesses will be forced with paying for all new tax collection apparatuses, and they’ll get to have fun with getting sued if there’s a mistake. There’ll be pushes to dispense with state and local sales tax in favor of national sales taxes.
It’s gonna be great. Not.
