A brief church history of Tisbury in the UK, found by chance. Obviously this is the namesake of the one on Martha’s Vineyard, especially since it’s right next door to the UK’s Chilmark. The Chilmark entry explains a lot about the Martha’s Vineyard connection.
Anyway, there’s an amazing story of how they found the old Tisbury parish church’s pre-Reformation stone altar hidden in an Arundell family crypt underneath the altar’s rightful place, as well as a lot of other interesting things.
