In Peru, especially in Cuzco, La Paz, and Callao, there are a lot of paintings of angels with harquebuses, blunderbusses, and other weaponry. They are often portrayed as guardians of the Eucharist and the Sacraments.

Love it. My grandmother who painted icons also reproduced a couple of these, and we have them at home. I think it’s an awesome idea — and yes, can we have a St. Michael as a Marine or SEAL or something epic like that?
