“Planxty Fanny Power” in Space

Astronaut Catherine “Cady” Coleman plays the famous O’Carolan tune “Planxty Fanny Power.” In space, on a wooden flute older than most of us, and a tin whistle, both borrowed from the Chieftains.

I missed this last year, but it’s come out as part of a track on the Chieftains’ new anniversary album, Voice of Ages. Proceeds go to a charity for Haitian kids, according to this news story.

Also, here’s a duet she did with rock flautist Ian Anderson, in memory of Yuri Gagarin.
