Happy Year of the Sheep! Countries like Japan that celebrate the solar New Year in January are celebrating today. (Chinese New Year is lunar, and it falls on February 19 this year.)
They say those art models are happy with their work, but I don’t know. They look pretty sheepish.
Alas, there are no pictures of the valiant Reepicheep as a Reepisheep. But he’s a mouse who takes himself seriously, so I wool not do that to him.
These humans are being awfully mean to this cat. He ought to go on the lamb.
This is the Year of the Green Wood Sheep, to be technical. Ewe may be surprised to know that it can also be called the Year of the Green Ram or the Year of the Green Goat.
But you might have to look out, because it looks like your dog has fleece!
Now, I really like following these weird astrological zodiacal year systems for fun, but it’s not always fun and games. In a horrible demonstration of why superstition is bad, many Chinese are rushing to give birth — or abort their babies — before the Lunar New Year. The Year of the Horse is “lucky,” and the Year of the Sheep is “unlucky,” so why not kill your kid to save him from bad luck! Yay!
