Covering It Up Doesn’t Make It Not Happen

There was a tragic stampede in Shanghai at midnight during the New Year’s celebrations. 36 people were crushed to death or trampled in a waterfront area called the Bund. At least 49 people were seriously injured. Both the dead and the injured include people from other countries and Chinese college students.

The Chinese government is handling the tragedy by trying to cover it up. Local newspapers are forbidden to show pictures of mourners, and nobody is allowed to interview injured survivors or relatives of the dead without special permission from the propaganda office. All these people are being kept under guard by the police.

I guess they want this to be the Year of the Sheeple.
