The amusing thing about Internet cellphones is that now everybody has turned into introverts for part of their day.
The not-so-amusing thing is that these extroverted amateur introverts have not developed the introvert skills they need for survival.
Peripheral vision is your friend, as are the sensory nerves in your feet. There is no reason you should be running into people while reading and walking, except lack of practice. Please practice somewhere safe before attempting advanced maneuvers, o amateurs.
(To be fair, a crowded New York sidewalk is never going to be ideal for reading and walking. So why do it there?)
